Box Tree Caterpillar
Box Tree Caterpillar
Our Box Tree Caterpillar Killer is a seasonal, live, and natural form of pest control. Applied to your trees and bushes during the period of April to October these nematodes are safe to use around humans, plants, and pets.
Nematodes, of the Steinernema Carpocapsea species, are the most effective answer to the caterpillar which, if left untreated, can strip the leaves, and damage the bark of the trees and bushes causing harm to and, in extreme cases, even killing the infected plant.
The nematodes simply require mixing with water, then applied to the whole of the plant being treated including the soil at the base. As the moths can produce many generations, during a season, plants should be inspected every few weeks for signs of the caterpillars and, if spotted, a treatment should be undertaken.
Once a treatment has been applied we recommend a second application after seven days. This second application will help to cover any areas that may have been missed during the first tretment and will treat any caterpillers that have hatched in the period following the first treatment.

FAQs
Is it easy to apply your Nematodes?
The nematodes are supplied in a powder within a sealed pack. To use you simply mix the pack contents with water then apply to the bush or tree. The solution can be sprayed or applied with a watering can however, for most areas, a sprayer is the easiest option.
When is the right time to treat the caterpillar infestation with nematodes?
As many generations of the caterpillar are produced each year it is very important to monitor your plants during the period April - October which is when the caterpillars are active. Should caterpillars be spotted then this is when the treatment should be made.
Can I store the nematodes?
As the nematodes are shipped live, you should endevour to use them as soon as possible. If you aren't able to use them on the day they arrive then the unopened packet can be stored in a fridge until you are ready to use them. If doing this please don't forget about them and still try to use them as soon as you can for the best results.
How can I be sure that the mix won't block my sprayer?
Providing that you mix the powder properly then there shouldn't be any reason why your sprayer should block however a little lump can bypass even the most stringent quality control so we recommend removing any inline filters (normally within the sprayer hose or spray handle) and, if possible use a nozzle with a large opening.
What is the coverage of your treatment?
Our Box Tree Moth Caterpillar Killer is supplied in two packets with each giving a coverage of 35 square metres meaning that your total coverage is 70 square metres. This means that between 250ml - 500ml of the final mixed solution is required per square metre.
