Plum Fruit Moth
Plum Fruit Moth
Safely control your Plum Fruit Moth infestation, the natural way, with our Plum Fruit Killer nematodes, which are deadly to the Plum Fruit Moth larvae but safe to humans and wildlife.
Plum Fruit Moth Killer contains Steinernema species nematodes. These nematodes attack the Plum Fruit Moth larvae when they are situated on the tree trunk, or in the soil base of the tree. The nematodes enter the larvae and feed on the contents of the larvae, producing a natural bacteria which kills it and completely brakes the larvae down. The nematodes also reproduce inside the larvae, releasing more nematodes into the surrounding area.
1 pack is sufficient to treat up to 8 trees.
PLEASE NOTE - As nematodes are live creatures they are bred in batches to be as fresh as possible when they reach you. They are prepared to order and despatched within 5 working days depending on demand.

Product Description
Use nature to control the larvae of the Plum Fruit Moth and protect your crop. Nematodes are naturally found in soil so they
are safe to use around pets, children, wild animals, plants, and crops.
When applied to the lower branches, trunk, and soil around the base of a tree, the nematodes, when in contact with larvae, will enter the larvae and produce a bacteria which kills them and the dead body is, slowly, completely broken down. However, the nematodes continue to live and reproduce inside the larvae which increases their numbers in the surrounding area.

Product Specification
The timing is critical in applying the Plum Fruit Moth Killer nematodes as they must reach the Plum Fruit Moth larvae at the stage in their life cycle when they are located on Plum tree trunks, lower branches, or in the soil bases of these trees.
We advise two applications of Plum Fruit Moth Killer Nematodes; one in early spring, around April, as the moths return from overwintering, and again in late summer, around September, before they begin to overwinter.
These nematodes are easy to apply using a watering can and do not leave any unsightly residues. Ensure that the area is moist at the time of application and the nematodes are applied with plenty of water. Strong sunlight needs to be avoided as nematodes are UV sensitive. Strong sunlight needs to be avoided as nematodes are UV sensitive. Nematodes are capable of surviving the odd frost so don't panic if the temperature falls after application.
1. First open and empty the contents of your 25 million sachet of nematodes into a bucket or container of 2.5 litres of water and mix thoroughly.
2. Next, fill your sprayer (hand held sprayers should suffice, with filters removed - with the mixed 2.5 litres of nematode concentrate and add another 5.5 litres of water so you are left with 8 litres of nematode solution.
3. Finally, spray the Plum Fruit Moth Killer solution to the lower branches and trunk of the tree (up to 1.5m from the base) and up to one square metre around the base of the tree in the soil.
Apply with thorough coverage of the lower tree trunk and drench the soil at the base of the tree, applying approximately 1 litre of solution per tree.
Use entire pack contents at once. For severe infestations, repeat the process 5 days after first treatment.
Next Steps
Continue to keep the area moist for 2 weeks after application. Repeat applications may be required for severe infestations. Repeat the process 5 days after first treatment if needed.
FAQs
• Are your Plum Moth Killer nematodes easy to apply?
The nematodes are supplied in a powder form which should be mixed with water and sprayed on to your trees. You should remove any filters from within your sprayer and, if possible, use a large nozzle to ensure that the nematode solution can flow with ease. We have many sprayers, on this site, which can be used for applying the Plum Moth Killer, and we have long telescopic lances that can make spraying into the higher parts of plum trees safe, and reducing waste.
• My children play under our plum trees, can I still use the nematodes?
Nematodes are safe to use around children, plants, animals, and crops. Overspray should be kept to a minimum and we recommend those not involved with the spraying, stay away from the trees whilst the treatment is in progress but once finished the area is safe to use.
