Viburnum Beetle
Viburnum Beetle
Naturally, and safely control the viburnum beetle with our nematodes which are safe for humans, birds, and plants.
Once applied these nematodes enter the larvae of the viburnum beetle via a natural opening, like the mouth, and feed on the contents of the larvae. A natural bacterium is produced by the nematodes inside the larvae, which kills it. Infected larvae will be completely broken down by the nematodes. The nematodes also reproduce inside the larvae, releasing more nematodes into the surrounding area.
PLEASE NOTE - As these are live creatures, they are bred in batches to be as fresh as possible. Your nematodes will be prepared to order and despatched within around 5 working days depending on demand. If not using immediately, the nematodes should be stored in your fridge until ready to use but please be aware of the Best Before date.
The larvae are normally active and present between April, May, and June. We recommend this is the best period in which to apply these Nematodes, which should be sprayed directly onto the Viburnum Beetle larvae.
1 pack contains approximately 25 million nematodes which is a coverage of 35 square metres.

Product Description
Viburnum Beetle Killer provides a control solution for the Viburnum Beetle (Pyrrhalta viburni) using nematodes (Steinernema carpocapsae) which are living organisms that can be used to control pests.
Nematodes provide a safe, natural solution for the control of the Viburnum Beetle. The larvae of the beetle (creamy yellow with black markings) are normally found on plants from the end of April to the end of June, and cause the most damage to plants by shredding leaves. These damaged leaves are also discoloured with brown edges.
When treating, the nematodes should be sprayed directly onto the larvae and, once applied, a natural bacterium is produced by the nematodes inside the larvae, which kills it. The nematodes also reproduce inside the larvae, releasing more nematodes into the surrounding area.
Once the Viburnum beetle larvae are killed, the nematodes will naturally reduce. Viburnum Beetle Killer nematodes have no negative effects on plants, humans, birds, fish or mammals.
Viburnums are woody plants (evergreen or deciduous) that produce either rounded or flat clusters of white or pink flowers. As there are well over 100 different types of viburnum, flowering can take place during the winter, spring, and summer. These flowers can be followed by ornamental berries that can range in colour.
Viburnums are ideal plants for many areas within the UK as they are happy in any type of reasonable soil (including chalk) and can handle either a sunny position or light shade. However, very poor soils, or dry areas, or poorly draining sites should be avoided.

FAQs
• Is it easy to apply your Nematodes?
All you need to do is mix the pack contents with water and apply to your trees or bushes. Each pack is supplied with easy to follow instructions and all you need is a sprayer or watering can.
• When is the best time to apply your nematodes?
We recommend the best time to apply Viburnum Beetle Killer Nematodes is between the months of April to June. Outside of this season it would either be too cold for the treatment to be effective or the larvae will have matured to a stage where the nematodes may not work as desired.
• What is the best weather conditions to apply these nematodes?
Viburnum Beetle Nematodes are best applied in the early morning or early evening. These times generally offer the best humidity levels and light levels as the nematodes should not be exposed to bright sunlight. You should also avoid any application when there is frost.
• How do I store the nematodes?
As your nematodes are supplied 'live', you should aim to use them as soon as possible. You can store unopened packs in your fridge but, for best results, you should apply your nematodes as soon as possible.
